Chasing Movie Parts: The Agony of Endless Scrolling

Every night, millions of fingers report for duty on glowing screens, ready to serve the bedtime ritual of scrolling. TikTok opens like a digital buffet where everyone swears they will only take one bite.

Then you land on part one of a movie you did not know existed five minutes ago. A CEO meets a poor girl and they up falling in love. A family betrays its own, who ends up making it; the Reddit classic plot. Then the cats are acting human and have their own plots. And as for the Nigerians flaunting their juju in every clip, either someone is curving juju or poisoning another. Just like that, sleep is postponed, and you can’t even account for the time spent.

The hunt for the next part begins. Some people no longer watch movies. Clearly, they chase them. They move from page to page with prayers in their hearts, begging the algorithm for part two. The unlucky ones find cooking videos, shoe repair, or a motivational quote that does nothing for their suffering. The lucky ones find part three and feel chosen.

The stories repeat with a similar plot and different characters. The poor girl wears one worn-out dress for ten episodes. The CEO switches between cruelty and kindness at record speed. Reddit families disown children before lunch and forgive them by nightfall. Justice is served in under a minute, sliced into clips.

Dinner grows cold. Messages go unanswered. Midnight arrives without notice. At last, the final part appears with soft music and a slow hug. Relief floods the room. Then the caption reads “Follow for next story,” and the cycle begins again.

Will people be patient enough to watch long movies with this growing trend?
