English-Northern Irish Artiste Jordan Adetunji Refuses to Change Name, Honors Nigerian Roots
Jordan Adetunji has kept his Nigerian last name as his stage name, saying it honors his roots.
Born in London to Nigerian parents and later moving to Northern Ireland, Jordan is an English-Northern Irish rapper and singer who draws on his multicultural background in his music.
Although many advised him early in his career to adopt a more “artiste-friendly” name, he stood firm and refused to change it.
The Grammy-nominated young star also urged fans who struggle to pronounce his surname to take the time to learn it, noting that other artists, like Justin Bieber, keep their real names without issue.
By keeping his surname, Jordan is making a clear statement of pride and authenticity, ensuring his Nigerian heritage remains visible throughout his music career.
