Selecta Jeff Says Most DJs Play Amapiano Just to Survive

Selecta Jeff has given fans a peek behind the decks, revealing the tough realities of the local music scene.

Through his X account, the Ugandan music curator revealed that many DJs, including himself, play Amapiano mainly to make ends meet.

Most DJs, myself included, play Amapiano just to survive. It has been the longest wave after Dancehall and Reggae.

But for Jeff, the real passion lies in Afro House.

He singled out 3 Step Afro House, calling it “So Sweet” and predicting it as the next big thing in Uganda’s music scene.

But yo, Afro House is really good music, especially 3 Step Afro House. So sweet. It is the next big thing, if it isn’t already. I cannot wait to hear a Ugandan vocalist on it.

With such high praise from one of Uganda’s top DJs, fans can expect Afro House to make serious waves on the country’s dance floors very soon.
