Tamale Mirundi Jr. Blasts Bebe Cool’s List, Calls Out Self-Inclusion

Ugandan media personality Tamale Mirundi Jr. has fired shots at veteran singer Bebe Cool over his 2025 music list, raising eyebrows across the industry.

Every year, Bebe Cool releases a list highlighting artistes and songs he believes defined the year.

While the list is meant to celebrate talent, Tamale Mirundi Jr. has criticized it for including Bebe Cool himself and for naming “Break The Chains” as album of the year.

Speaking boldly, Mirundi Jr. said that a musician should not grade their peers.

Bebe Cool’s list would not have been bad, but the only mistakes my brother, my elder, Ssali made are like three. A musician cannot grade their fellow musicians. That is like a student being asked to mark their fellow students.

He went on to explain that judging musicians without understanding their objectives is unfair.

Some artistes sing out of passion, others to make money, and some continue performing because their fans demand it.

First and foremost, Bebe Cool is still an active musician. Secondly, you cannot grade how musicians performed in a year without considering their objectives or reasons for singing. Some musicians sing because it is a passion, it is in them. Others sing to make money. And then we have musicians who continue to perform because their fans do not allow them to rest, for example, Sheebah. Sheebah no longer sings to make money or to get known. She even spent a year absent, but the day she returned, her fans were patiently waiting. Such a musician is no longer singing to get known, she sings because her fans demand it.

Mirundi Jr. also questioned the methodology behind the list.

He said every fan has their favorite artiste, and what Bebe Cool deemed the best may not match public perception.

For him, the top artists of 2025 were completely different from those featured on the list.

So, if Bebe comes out and grades musicians, those of us who studied statistics ask what method he used to determine who is the best. Each fan has their favorite artiste. You may say that “Break The Chains” was the best album, but not everyone agrees. For me, my best artistes of 2025 are completely different from those who appeared on Bebe Cool’s list.

Finally, Tamale Mirundi Jr. slammed Bebe Cool for including himself on the list, saying it undermines the credibility of the ranking.

According to him, a judge cannot also be the winner.

Another mistake Bebe Cool made is putting himself on the list. You cannot be the judge, the one assigning points, the one creating the list, and then include yourself while claiming you were the best. It does not add up. Bebe Cool’s list would have been fairer if he had swallowed his ego and left himself off. We do not even know the method he used to compile the list. Valid reasons were not given for why he specifically chose those artistes. To make matters worse, by including himself on the list, it lost the whole meaning of grading and analysing data… but that was his opinion as Bebe Cool.
