Love Does Not Begin On February 14

Every year, February 14 arrives with excitement. Shops fill up with red decorations. Restaurants advertise special dinners. Social media timelines overflow with flowers, gifts and romantic photos.

For many people, it feels like a major event.

But when I step back and look at it closely, I see something different. The day begins like any other. The sun rises. People wake up early for work. Traffic builds. Life continues at its normal pace.

That is when it becomes clear to me that Valentine’s Day is not as dramatic as it seems. It is simply another date on the calendar.

I understand why some people love it. It can be a sweet reminder to appreciate someone special.

At the same time, I also see why others struggle with it. The public displays can create pressure. The constant comparisons online can make some feel left out.

For me, the simplest view is this: Valentine’s Day is just 24 hours, no more and no less.

Love should not depend on one day. Real care is shown in ordinary moments throughout the year. That is what truly makes it meaningful.
