Yung Mulo Says Hit Songs Happen Naturally, Not by Formula
Ugandan dancehall singer Yung Mulo says there is no formula for a hit song.
Looking back at his 2012 breakout single “Tebakusobola,” Mulo said the track came together without heavy spending or elaborate planning.
Instead, the project relied on support from friends within the industry.
The video, according to him, cost only 150,000 shillings, which covered transport and a few other minor expenses.
DJ Shiru provided the outfit seen in the visuals, Rabadaba connected the vixen, while Josh SB handled the production.
Mulo insisted that a genuine hit does not depend on large budgets or flashy visuals.
In his view, it simply succeeds naturally.
What they call a hit song? That is just how it happens. You do not invest a lot in it. A hit is just made. There are songs that do not have videos but are still hits. For some, we never even got to know what the artistes looked like.
