A Pass Reveals How Mowzey Radio Guided His Music Journey
Singer A Pass has shared how the late Mowzey Radio played a key role in shaping his music career before he became famous.
The two first met at Badi Music Studios through A Pass’s brother, Stereo, who was Radio’s official DJ at the time.
Radio took time to listen to about 50 of A Pass’s songs and recognized his potential.
Radio gave A Pass advice that would later guide his career.
He encouraged him to sing in Luganda and make his lyrics simpler so that Ugandan listeners could connect with his music.
Radio told me that if I wanted to make it in Uganda, I should sing in Luganda and make my songs easier for people to understand.

Although A Pass can perform Jamaican-style dancehall and write songs with complex English lyrics, he chose to follow that advice.
This helped him create songs that are easy for Ugandans to relate to while keeping his own unique style.
Over the years, A Pass has managed to balance his love for dancehall and deep lyrics with music that appeals to local audiences, a direction he credits to the guidance he received from Mowzey Radio early in his career.
