Abitex Cautions Walukaga: “You May Get Votes, But Can You Protect Them?”
Events promoter Abitex has expressed concern over Mathias Mulumba Walukaga’s chances of winning the Busiro East MP seat, despite securing the National Unity Platform (NUP) party card.
Walukaga, a singer-turned-politician, clinched the nod ahead of Hon. Medard Ssegona, who has served in the position for three terms.
Following this decision, Ssegona has hinted at contesting the seat as an independent candidate.

Speaking to Sanyuka Uncut, Abitex cautioned that Walukagga faces a challenging road ahead.
Walukaga, in all honesty, will get many votes, but he may not have the capacity to protect them. If you consider the anger Hon. Ssegona has for being denied the card, and the power NRM’s candidate Kiyimba is going to use, that shows how uphill a task it will be for Walukaga to be declared the winner.
Abitex added that election results can be suprising and shocking.
I have witnessed it before, a councilor who was last in an election being declared the winner.
NUP’s decision to back Mathias Mulumba Walukaga for Busiro East has caught the attention of social media and political analysts, shaping the race into one of the most talked-about contests in the 2026 general elections.
