Abitex Claims Jail Time Might Be What Alien Skin Needs to Change
Following the remand of singer Alien Skin to Luzira Prison over phone theft allegations, Promoter Abitex, whose real name is Abbey Musinguzi, discussed the growing misconduct within the music industry in a chat with Sanyuka TV.
He began by emphasizing that in the music industry, one reaps what they sow.
He noted that the chaos seen today is not new, recalling that artistes like Bobi Wine, Bebe Cool, and Chameleone also exhibited such behavior in the past. However, they never went to such extremes.
Abitex then criticized Alien Skin for failing to manage his unruly behavior more wisely, accusing him of being disrespectful, hateful, and engaging in theft and troublemaking.
He pointed out that many promoters are now facing financial struggles due to Alien Skin’s actions, with some, particularly those in the diaspora, ceasing to work with him altogether.
According to Abitex, Alien Skin frequently skips shows, arrives late, misses flights, or causes cancellations, leaving promoters to suffer big losses.
He also mentioned that Alien Skin has had several encounters with the law but suggested that the police were hesitant to act against him due to his unruly entourage (Egaali) or his ties to the ruling party.
Abitex argued that Alien Skin’s open support for the ruling party may have afforded him some favor.
However, he expressed doubts about the credibility of Alien Skin’s accuser, pointing to their history of making allegations against various artistes.
In conclusion, Abitex admitted that Alien Skin’s behavior makes it difficult to defend him, stating that if imprisonment is what it takes to reform him, then so be it.
