Abtex Explains Why Joshua Baraka Is Still Short of Artiste of the Year
Commenting on the naming of King Saha as Artiste of the Year at the Uncut Awards, events promoter Abtex said the decision made sense.
However, he added that while King Saha was a worthy winner, several other artistes also had strong cases for the award based on their performances over the year.
Abtex singled out Elijah Kitaka, Sheebah Karungi, and Ray G as musicians who enjoyed impressive runs.
Turning to other contenders, he said Joshua Baraka had a strong year and could contest for the award but was not yet in a position to win it.
He explained that although the fast rising singer is popular with uptown audiences, the wider local audience has yet to fully embrace him.
Joshua Baraka can contest for the Artiste of the Year 2025 award, but he is not yet in a position to win it. At home, the wider local audience has not fully embraced him. While they hear his music, they have yet to fully embrace him as an artiste. However, among modern or uptown audiences, he is well appreciated.
As his final picks for Artiste(s) of the Year, Abtex named Ray G, Elijah Kitaka, and King Saha, in that order.
