Acting in Uganda Is Not Profitable, Says Former ‘The Ebonies’ Star Nakawunde
Former “The Ebonies” actress Harriet Nalubwama, popularly known as Nakawunde, has shared her thoughts on the lack of financial reward in Uganda’s acting industry.
She explained that if acting were truly profitable, people would be organizing shows every weekend, rather than every six months.
According to Nakawunde, acting in Uganda is an expensive venture that does not bring in substantial earnings, which is why actors often have to work for many years.
In the same interview, Nakawunde confirmed that she has quit acting for good, now focusing on promoting health awareness.
She emphasized, “I will not return to acting. It is not because I grew tired of it, but because I now see myself as a retired general. My focus is now on health.”
Looking ahead, Nakawunde aims to teach people good health habits that will help them live healthy lifestyles, free from diseases and dependence on medication.
