Alex Mukulu Pins Music Industry Violence on Lack of Mentorship
Veteran musician Alex Mukulu has linked the growing violence among young artistes to a deep disconnect between them and the older musicians in Uganda.
Speaking to Daily Soup, Mukulu said many senior artistes have abandoned their role as mentors.
What has really ruined this industry is the fact that older musicians abandoned younger musicians, dismissing them as rascals they cannot handle. Older musicians are to blame for not guiding the younger ones.
However, Mukulu also placed responsibility on the younger artistes, noting that many fail to seek advice from their seniors.
The younger artistes are also at fault for thinking that the older musicians are not knowledgeable and must be ignored.
The “Banakampala” singer urged collaboration across generations, emphasizing that such unity could transform the industry.
Older musicians have experience, and younger musicians have energy. If experience collaborates with energy, Uganda’s music industry will grow.
