Aloysius Matovu Joy Sounds Alarm on “Fashion Crisis” Among Youth
Veteran Ugandan actor, poet, and scriptwriter Aloysius Matovu Joy has spoken out about what he calls a “fashion crisis” among today’s youth.
In a recent statement, the celebrated actor expressed concern that many young people have abandoned basic dressing etiquette, noting that discipline in clothing reflects discipline in character.
According to Matovu Joy, many young men no longer pay attention to how they present themselves in public.
It is not right for a man to dress without a belt.
He continued:
If you are playing football, put on sneakers, not sandals. And if you are going to an office, it is proper to tuck in and wear a tie.
The actor stressed that dressing smartly does not require much money but rather self-respect and a sense of occasion.
He urged the youth to embrace neatness and confidence in their appearance, reminding them that fashion should not be about trends but about identity and respect.
Through his poetry and film work, Aloysius Matovu Joy continues to use his voice to guide and mentor the next generation, both on and off the screen.
