Amooti Opens Up About Messe’s Life and Legacy After His Passing

In a phone interview with Sanyuka TV, comedian Amooti Omubalanguzi shared heartfelt memories of his close friend and fellow entertainer, Nicholas ‘Messe Bontwe’ Mpirwe, who passed away on December 12, 2024, in the United States.

Amooti spoke about their long friendship and their journey together in Uganda’s entertainment industry.

Amooti first met Messe in 1997 when he was part of a music group called Da Homies.

The group, which included well-known artistes Ragga Dee and Iryn Namubiru, was popular in Uganda’s music scene at the time.

Amooti also revealed that Messe worked closely with Shanks Vivi Dee, the late Menton Summer, Ragga Dee, Orlando, and Rasta Rob back in the day.

“Messe joined the Amarula Family in the early 2000s,” Amooti recalled.

He explained that Messe later chose to leave Amarula Family and move to the United States to explore other opportunities.

“There was no bad blood,” Amooti clarified. “We stayed in touch and were always on good terms.”

Amooti also shared details about Messe’s life in Uganda. He mentioned that Messe’s home is in Seguku, while his ancestral home is in Kabale.

Amooti stated that he does not know the exact cause of Messe’s death, as he learned about it right after a TV interview.
