Ava Peace Gets Real on Bigenda Bitya: Faith, Hustle & the Heart Behind the Hits

By Penny Atukunda

One of Uganda’s most soulful rising stars—sat down with the Sanyuka TV’s Immy Candance on Bigenda Bitya and opened up about the faith, fire, and fearless journey that’s brought her this far.

Born Namugonza Maureen Peace, Ava’s music journey began in quiet corners, singing gospel songs during school holidays.

But her passion soon turned professional when she met producer Andre in her Senior Six vacation.

Together, they cooked up her first official track, complete with a polished video.

Her breakthrough, though, came in the middle of a global crisis.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, a casual text from producer Mudra sparked a new wave of collaborations.

Ava recorded her early demos from her own pocket, proving she’s more grind than glam behind the scenes.

Hits like Shabada followed, but so did the challenges.

From tricky management transitions to underwhelming concert turnouts, Ava did not flinch.

She stayed focused, grounded, and full of love, refusing to fuel industry beef or fall into media drama.

“Let the music speak,” she said, keeping her relationship with fellow star Winnie Wa Mummy drama-free.

She credits her manager, Jeff Kiwa, for guiding her path and keeping her motivated, playfully promising him a luxury car one day as a thank you.

Now laser-focused on her career and her faith, Ava Peace isn’t rushing into love. She’s letting her music and God lead the way.
