American Cameroonian sensation Libianca is third, Malian French star Aya Nakamura is fourth, and British Nigerian artiste Darkoo is fifth.
Fans noted the surprising absence of South African star Tyla, who won several Afrobeats awards over the past year.
Spotify also released the Top 5 Afrobeats Artists in Latin America, a list dominated by Nigerian talent.
