Azawi Tells Fans to Vote According to Their Beliefs, Not Celebrity Influence

Ugandan singer Azawi is no stranger to speaking her mind, and in a candid interview with Tawfiq Media, she shared her views on the country’s politics.

Azawi made it clear that she does not follow any any party blindly.

Her support goes only to those who genuinely care about the people.

I support every political party that fronts matters concerning the people. If your political party promotes ideas that help ordinary Ugandans, then I support you. If you are only about your own interests and stomach, we do not connect, and I have made that clear for all the time I have been speaking out about certain things happening in my country.

Asked if she would perform at her friend, presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu’s rallies, Azawi said she would need to think about it first.

She explained that her hesitation comes from not wanting fans to blindly follow a side just because of her influence.

I have to first think about it, to be honest. I had personally decided not to show a side. I do not want people to make choices just because of Azawi. There are people who love you so much that they are willing to follow and do whatever you do.

Azawi also emphasized that people should make their own decisions based on their beliefs and values.

I want everyone to decide for themselves based on what they feel in their heart. If a candidate is saying things that align with your values, beliefs, and vision for Uganda, then vote for them.
