Bajjo Demands Apology From Eddy Kenzo Over Veteran Remarks

Events promoter Bajjo has joined veteran voices in criticizing Eddy Kenzo over his remarks about older artistes, adding pressure to an already heated debate.

The backlash followed a recent interview where Kenzo compared generations of Ugandan musicians and said many artistes from the earlier era struggled financially and failed to build stable lives.

He credited his generation with changing the industry’s image and pushing professionalism.

Speaking on Sanyuka Uncut, Bajjo said those remarks downplay the legacy of pioneers who built the industry under far more difficult conditions.

I have been in this industry for many years, and I have great respect for the pioneers who shaped our music scene. Recently, Eddy Kenzo made comments that minimized the legacy of these legends.

He pointed to icons like Paulo Kafeero, Lord Fred Sebatta, and Dan Mugula, arguing that their impact goes beyond material success.

Their songs were enormous. They were massive hits, bigger than many songs today, and despite having fewer resources, they gave us the blueprint we still follow. They laid the groundwork for this entire industry. Eddy Kenzo’s success does not erase their contribution.

Bajjo warned that the remarks could deepen divisions within the industry if Kenzo does not apologize.

If Kenzo does not apologize, there is a real risk of division. The unity we have in this generation could falter, and the future of our music scene could suffer. We must remember where we came from.
