Barcelona Kit Gets a Musical Makeover with Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran is taking over Barcelona’s kit in a move no one saw coming.

The pop star’s new album Play will appear on the team’s shirts for two huge matches.

First up, the women’s team faces Granada CF. Then comes the men’s El Clásico against Real Madrid.

This makes Ed the first British male solo artist on a Barcelona jersey. Coldplay, Drake, and Travis Scott did it before, but now it is Sheeran’s turn.

Fans are loving the idea of the singer literally playing on the pitch.

Sheeran has always been a football fan. Seeing his name on the famous shirt is a dream come true. Barcelona players are fans too. Striker Robert Lewandowski has long had Ed’s music in the locker room.

The shirts are extremely rare. Only 1,899 match-quality versions exist. Out of those, 22 are signed by players and 11 by Ed himself. Even Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmatí will be wearing Play-branded gear.

Fans get more than just the shirts. There is a Sheeran-curated Spotify playlist, a virtual kit for eFootball, and plenty of exclusive merchandise.

Music and football are coming together in a way fans will not forget
