Batt Badru Takes Aim at Modern Female Singers for Flaunting Looks Over Music
Entertainment critic Batt Badru, while appearing on Next Radio, shared his views on the difference between today’s musicians and those from the past, especially female artistes.
He said that in the past, female musicians focused more on their music rather than their looks, which is not the case today.
“There was a time when it was all about the music, especially for the ladies. You would hear artistes like Chance Nalubega and Catherine Kusasira sing and think, yes, they have fair looks, but it is their music that represents them,” he said.
In contrast, he noted that in the current generation, beyond just singing, a female artiste also needs to have physical appeal.
He gave the example of Laika Umuhoza, alias Laika Music, saying that although he knows she is a singer, he is not familiar with her songs.
“You do not focus on the music because there is something else she is serving, and that is her looks,” he explained.
In his view, the industry has changed, and these days, female artistes are selling their appearance more than their music.
