Bebe Cool Credits “Break The Chains” for Boosting Music Streaming in Uganda
Bebe Cool believes his “Break The Chains” album changed the game by setting a new standard for Ugandan music and making streaming a priority.
Speaking on Adesope Olajide’s Afrobeats podcast, the veteran singer highlighted the progress he has seen so far regarding streaming.
I mean, now everybody is coming out to talk about the streams and the numbers, which was not happening before.
According to him, streaming milestones have now become something artistes openly brag about.
“Recently, I have just seen Joshua Baraka’s team advertising the milestone on streaming, and then recently, another lady artiste who released an album also shared how many streams she had gotten in one day.
Bebe Cool added that whenever his album is mentioned, the debate always circles back to streams.
There is a big argument about the impact of my album, because media personalities, every time they are talking about it, say that if someone claims the album has not moved, the only answer and the only evidence that everybody goes to look for is the streams.
He believes the entire music conversation has shifted to streams, and that was his plan all along.
We are now talking about streams, and that is exactly what my intention was. That was the agenda. It is obvious, and now every artiste understands the game is now about streams.
With more Ugandan artistes chasing numbers online, Bebe Cool says his agenda is already shaping the future of the industry.
