Bebe Cool Embraces Afro Sound in New Album, Explains Why He Is Evolving
After a career spanning over two decades, legendary Ugandan artiste Bebe Cool is reinventing himself musically with a fresh sound and a bold new album titled Break the Chains.
Scheduled for release on May 30th, the album marks a significant shift from the reggae and ragga style that defined his earlier career.
So far, Bebe Cool has released two singles from the project, “Circumference” and “Motivation,” which have sparked mixed reactions from fans and critics.
While some listeners feel that the singer is straying too far from his roots and trying too hard to mimic the Nigerian Afrobeat style, his longtime supporters have welcomed the change.
In a promotional video, Bebe Cool revealed the motivation behind this musical transformation.
He said the idea behind the Break the Chains album is to liberate himself from doing the same kind of music he has been known for.
“I am breaking free from the usual kind of music. I am joining the Afro-beat and the rest of the new styles,” he said.
The album will feature four genres including afrobeat, afrotech, afropop and dancehall, signaling Bebe Cool’s ambition to align with international music trends while exploring new creative territory.
