Bebe Cool’s Age Does Not Favor His Album, Says Jacob Omutuuze

Media personality DJ Jacob Omutuuze has shared what he describes as a brutally honest review of Bebe Cool’s latest album, Break The Chains.

While he praised the album’s production quality and songwriting, he did not hold back from pointing out what he considers its biggest flaw: the artiste himself.

“It really saddens me that one of the icons we know in Uganda, who has fought hard to grow our music industry, refuses to accept the truth, that some music is not meant for him to sing,” he said.

Jacob argued that the Afro-inspired vibe on Break The Chains would have been better suited to a younger artiste like Joshua Baraka.

“If it were Joshua Baraka, who is 24 years old, releasing that album with all the resources Bebe Cool had or has, the album would have been well represented,” he said.

He went on to note that the timing of the release was ideal, as it came at a time when there is little competition in Uganda’s music industry.

However, he believes age plays a key role in how music is received, and that is where Bebe Cool, now 47 years old, fell short, particularly in his adoption of the Afro sound.

“His age does not favor his album,” he said.

Jacob also criticized fans and the media for sugarcoating the truth, adding that they have failed to help veteran artistes like Bebe Cool make the right musical decisions.
