Beenie Gunter Talks About the Dancehall Heat Rave and Learning Jamaican Patois
In a recent media chat, singer Beenie Gunter brought attention to the Dancehall Heat Rave, noting that it is an event by Talent Africa and that he was the first artiste to headline it.
The CEO of GunTalk hinted that next year could see another artiste headline the event.
Beenie Gunter is also preparing for his own event, the GunTalk Festival, scheduled for next year.
Reflecting on his journey, he shared that he learned Jamaican Patois long before starting his music career.
His passion for dancehall music fueled his desire to master the language, which he began learning while still in school.
In response to Ziza Bafana’s call for music promoters to bring Jamaican artistes for musical battles with local talent, Beenie Gunter agreed, stating that art is diverse and varies from artiste to artiste, making such contests possible.
When asked why some artistes struggle with dancehall music, he explained that it often comes down to a mismatch between style and talent.
He emphasized that artists should focus on what they can genuinely deliver; attempting something beyond their abilities will eventually become evident.
Finally, Beenie Gunter addressed the challenge of balancing family life with a music career.
He stated that being a family man does not hinder his passion for music.
He pointed out that many successful artistes, like Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine, also manage family life, proving that it is possible to successfully juggle both roles.
