Bella Shmurda Explains Why Nigerian Artistes Charge Sky-High Fees

Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has revealed why his shows are so expensive.

He explained that behind every performance is a mountain of costs. Producers, songwriters, engineers, and other staff all get paid from the show fees.

Music production and promotion are not cheap and public figures cannot repeat outfits. Every album and video costs millions.

Speaking from the perspectives of an artiste, making music is expensive. I do not repeat clothes because I am a public figure. I spent $100,000 to pay producers, songwriters and engineers that worked on my album. That is over N100 million. Not to mention music videos and promotion costs. That is a lot.

Bella said the fees are not overcharging. They are about recovering the money spent to make the music. Even if he does not make a profit, the earnings should cover production costs.

So, I go for a show, I would charge what would equate my investments. Even if I do not make profit, I should a least be able to recover the cost of production. So, we are not overcharging. If you look at it from our own perspective, you will agree that we are not overcharging.

For Bella Shmurda, it is simple. Creating hits is expensive and artistes deserve to be paid what their craft demands.
