Bella Shmurda Says His Hit “Cash App” Was Inspired by Yahoo Boys

Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has revealed that his hit song “Cash App” was inspired by internet fraudsters, commonly known as Yahoo boys.

In a recent interview with Clout Africa, he explained that the song was meant to capture their struggles and provide motivation.

Shmurda said he realized that internet fraud is a stressful and challenging hustle.

He wanted to create a track that would make these hustlers happy, giving them something to dance to amid their struggles.

He added that the inspiration for the song came naturally, describing it as God-given and divine.

Released in 2020, “Cash App” features rappers Zlatan and Lincoln and quickly became a major hit in Nigeria and across other African countries.

The track remains one of Bella Shmurda’s most popular songs, showcasing his ability to tap into contemporary street culture and turn it into music that resonates widely.
