Biggie Events Eyes Promoters’ SACCO Funds to Clear Debts
Mariam Mutakubwa, popularly known as Biggie Events, says she will soon clear all her debts.
Last year, the events promoter ran into legal trouble over a Shs 70 million debt.
She borrowed the money from businessman David Tumusiime Amooti to organize a concert for veteran singer Lord Fred Sebatta but failed to repay it.
The unpaid amount put her at risk of serving a six-month prison sentence.
However, with support from friends and fellow promoters, especially Abtex, Biggie was released after spending about one week on remand.
She is now confident that relief has come through the Promoters SACCO, which received billions of shillings from the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development to support event promoters.
She says that once she receives her share of the funds, she will settle all outstanding payments.
I am yet to clear the debt, but I am confident I will pay it since the President gave us money through our Promoters SACCO. Once I receive the money, I am going to clear everyone. Everyone’s complaint will be addressed.
