Bruno K Wins Lawsuit Against Black Market Records, Bags UGX 130 Million In Damages
Singer Bruno K is UGX 130 million richer after winning a tough legal battle against his former management, Black Market Records.
On April 2, 2025, the High Court ruled in his favor, awarding him UGX 100 million in general damages and an additional UGX 30 million in aggravated damages for withheld royalties and copyright infringement.
If the record label fails to pay, the amount will accumulate an annual interest of 14% from the date of judgment.
Bruno K, whose real name is Bruno Kiggundu, signed with Black Market Records in early 2020, hoping for a successful partnership.
However, he later found the contract unfavorable and decided to walk away.
Even after his departure, the label continued to profit from his music, YouTube channel, and streaming royalties.
Although he eventually regained control of his channel, the financial dispute remained unresolved.
Determined to reclaim his rights, the singer took legal action against his former management, leading to a prolonged court battle.
In the end, justice prevailed as the court ruled in his favor, ordering Black Market Records to drop all copyright claims on his music.
