Chameleone, Kenzo, Bobi, or Bebe: Pallaso Names Who the GOAT Is
Recording artiste Pius Mayanja, popularly known as Pallaso and the younger brother of Jose Chameleone, recently shared his thoughts on some of Uganda’s biggest music names.
When asked to name the greatest of all time (GOAT) from a list of four: Jose Chameleone, Bobi Wine, Bebe Cool, and Eddie Kenzo, Pallaso chose to discuss each one individually based on his personal experiences and knowledge.
Starting with his brother, Pallaso highlighted Jose Chameleone’s impact on the Ugandan music industry. According to Pallaso, Chameleone is a genuine person who has transformed many lives, including his own.
He credited Chameleone with revolutionizing Ugandan music by being the first musician to hold successful shows outside Uganda, in countries like Tanzania and Kenya.
Pallaso also pointed out that Chameleone’s achievements often go unrecognized, especially his nominations for prestigious awards like KORA, MOBO, and MTV Europe.
Moving on to Bobi Wine, Pallaso praised him as a musician who teaches through his life struggles. He believes Bobi Wine shows that anyone can rise from humble beginnings and achieve great things.
Pallaso shared how Bobi Wine’s journey was filled with hardships, including selling Nsenene (grasshoppers) and facing rejection abroad.
Despite this, his perseverance made him not only a music icon but also the top opposition leader in Uganda, which Pallaso finds remarkable.
In his own words, Pallaso called Bobi Wine a true ghetto inspiration.
When talking about Bebe Cool, Pallaso recognized him as a legend who helped shape Ugandan music.
He remembered Bebe Cool as one of the first musicians in Uganda to lock his hair, despite societal resistance.
Pallaso admired Bebe Cool’s dedication to the industry, noting that he has put everything on the line for his art.
However, Pallaso mentioned that Bebe Cool’s ego can sometimes prevent him from connecting with people, but that does not take away from the fact that he is a legend who stands firm in his beliefs.
Lastly, Pallaso spoke highly of Eddie Kenzo, praising his consistency and honesty. He shared that Kenzo has always been truthful in their interactions, both before and after his rise to fame.
Pallaso expressed deep trust in Kenzo, saying he would follow him blindly because of his integrity.
He also recalled their early days playing soccer in Boston and admired how Kenzo remained humble even after winning international awards like the BET Award.
To Pallaso, Kenzo is a genuine person with a good heart.
In the end, rather than choosing one GOAT, Pallaso decided to honor all these music greats for their unique contributions to the industry and the lessons they have taught him.
On the other hand, singer Crysto Panda straight up stated that, in his opinion, Jose Chameleone is the greatest Ugandan musician of all time.
