Not everyone is downplaying Bebe Cool’s latest album.
While social media has been flooded with mixed reactions about Break The Chains, Selecta Jef says people need to wake up because the album is already doing numbers.
Speaking on NBS After 5, the outspoken DJ made it clear that the project has made serious waves, thanks to one track that is dominating speakers across the country.
Bebe Cool’s album is already successful. It has ‘Cheque’ which is playing everywhere. There is no bar that I have been to that does not play Cheque.
According to Selecta Jef, every song does not need to be a chart-topper for an album to be considered successful.
If an album has one, two, three songs that become hits, it is a successful album.
He also reminded viewers that albums are not made solely to produce hit songs.
He believes they are also meant to build an artiste’s catalogue and feed the fans.
People create albums so that their listeners are not bored. They create them to give their fans music all the time.
And to drive his point home, Jef pointed to global stars like Usher.
Even their biggest albums, he argued, usually only have a few tracks that most people know.
