Chris Evans Returns as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday

Chris Evans is officially returning as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel Studios confirmed with the release of the first teaser trailer.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.

The teaser shows Rogers arriving home on a motorcycle at the mid-century house he shares with Peggy Carter, following the events of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

He folds his classic Captain America suit and smiles at a newborn child, presumed to be his and Carter’s, while a somber piano version of the Avengers theme plays.

The trailer ends with the message: “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday,” accompanied by a countdown to the premiere.

This marks Evans’ first appearance as Steve Rogers since Endgame, though he appeared in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine as Johnny Storm.

Interestingly, the teaser refers to him as “Steve Rogers” rather than “Captain America,” sparking speculation about how he will interact with Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, the current shield-bearer.

The film also stars Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom, alongside Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, and returning cast members from recent Marvel entries.

Fans can expect more character-focused teasers in the coming weeks as excitement builds for the movie.
