Cindy Opens Up on the Possibility of a Political Future
Cindy Sanyu, whose real name is Cinderella Sanyu, has revealed her deep desire to serve people, especially the fans who have stood by her over the years.
The “Ayokyayokya” singer told Rewind that while music is her current focus, the call to serve is always in her heart.
It is a thing I have in my heart. I like to be of service to people. Sometimes I think about it and I am like, ‘All the people who have supported me for all these years, how can I be of service to them? Sometimes it points towards leadership, it points towards politics, but we have not yet reached that. We are still making music.
Her comments come as Uganda gears up for the 2026 general elections, a season that has already seen musicians stepping into politics.
Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, is running for president, Nina Roz is contesting in Ssembabule, and Mathias Walukaga is aiming for Busiro East, among others.
If Cindy ever turns her passion for service into a political mission, she would join a growing list of musicians who have taken the leap, some winning big and others falling short.
For now, her heart remains with her music, but her words leave the door open for something more.
