Cindy Sanyu’s Character Hurts Her Career – Abitex
In a recent media interview, music promoter Abbey Musinguzi, also known as Abitex, shared strong opinions about Cindy Sanyu, suggesting that her “bad attitude” has hindered her career growth, despite her prominent status in the Ugandan music industry.
According to Abitex, Cindy’s career peaked during her time with Blu*3, and when the group disbanded, her relevance in the industry declined.
While her talent is still appreciated, promoters like Abitex hesitate to book her because she does not draws large crowds.
Abitex also mentioned that although Cindy is praised for her vocal talent, recent performances by Sheebah have overshadowed her.
He pointed out that Sheebah’s performance at her Neyanziza concert showed that Cindy no longer holds a clear edge in live singing and performing.
The much-hyped musical battle between Cindy and Sheebah generated significant buzz, but Abitex believes it was Sheebah’s decision to participate in the battle that temporarily revived Cindy’s career.
Once the event ended, the buzz around Cindy quickly faded, leaving her struggling to stay relevant again, he added.
Abitex also revealed that he did not support Cindy in her battle with Sheebah in September 2023.
He recalled an event where he was promoting another artiste, Acidic Vokoz, and asked Cindy to record a simple promotional drop and perform.
However, Cindy declined, which Abitex viewed as a reflection of her “bad heart” and character.
Even though he had not supported her in the battle, he expressed disappointment that Cindy refused, especially since the musical battle had taken place nearly a year earlier, and this was a different event with a different artiste altogether.
Abitex highlighted this behavior as part of what makes Cindy struggle to stay relevant, leading some to view her as an upcoming artiste, even though she is actually a well-established artiste.
He also noted that this type of character is not unique to Cindy, as other musicians in the industry exhibit similar behavior, which prevents them from achieving lasting success despite being big artistes.
