Clan Elders Disown Tamale Mirundi Junior For Opposing Apology to Buganda Kingdom
Tamale Mirundi Junior has been disowned by his clan following a clash over the family’s recent decision to apologize to the Buganda Kingdom.
The disowning occurred after a heated meeting with clan elders, during which Junior allegedly refused to back down from his defiant stance.
The background of this fallout traces back to his late father, Tamale Mirundi Senior, who was a vocal critic of the Buganda Kingdom and its leadership.
His public disagreements with the Kingdom, particularly the Katikkiro, created a lasting rift between him and the monarchy.
In an effort to heal these long-standing wounds, the Mirundi family decided to offer an apology and requested a meeting with the Katikkiro, which took place on September 25th, 2024, at Bulange in Mengo.
During this meeting, the family expressed their remorse, and the Katikkiro, representing the Kabaka, accepted their apology. He also urged the public to refrain from using social media to attack one another.
However, Tamale Mirundi Junior did not support this gesture of reconciliation. He stood firmly by his late father’s position, refusing to apologize to the Kingdom.
His defiance of the family’s decision and his harsh criticism of those encouraging reconciliation deepened the tension.
During a clan meeting over the weekend, elders made an effort to counsel Junior, but his alleged refusal to apologize angered them and led to the difficult decision of disowning him.
