Comedian Sami Mighty Thanks Bebe Cool for Support Amid Health Challenges

By Arthur Bogere Kazibwe

Sam Okanya, popularly known as Sami A, was once known for his work as a comedian before venturing into politics under the National Unity Platform (NUP).

His political journey took a troubling turn when he was arrested during a demonstration.

According to Sami, he was beaten during the arrest, though he said he did not take the incident seriously at the time.

Over time, however, he began experiencing serious health complications, particularly difficulty in urinating.

He reported the issue to his party, NUP, which provided some medical assistance and gave him 1.2 million Ugandan shillings.

According to him, the support ended there.

In worsening condition, Sami called for help and was taken to Bombo Hospital, where treatment began.

Doctors at Bombo later advised that he be transferred to Mulago Hospital for further medical attention and operations.

Sami publicly expressed his gratitude to musician Bebe Cool, who rushed to his aid and offered compassionate support.

Bebe Cool sent a doctor to assess Sami’s condition. According to the doctor, Sami would require more than three surgeries.

In a message delivered through the cameras, Sami issued a public apology to Ugandans he may have offended and asked for forgiveness.

He also spoke directly to his wife in an emotional statement:

I regret not listening to my wife. She stood by me and cared for me when I was seriously ill. She advised me to leave politics, but after I recovered, I ignored her advice and took the first flight back to Uganda. I am truly sorry, my wife. Please forgive me.
