Cynthia Tumwine Honors Father’s Role in Creating Uganda’s Shs50,000 Note
Rapper and media personality Cynthia Tumwine, better known as TheeNinjaC, has surprised many Ugandans with a revelation about her late father, General Elly Tuhirirwe Tumwine.
According to Cynthia, the former senior military officer was part of the team that designed Uganda’s Shs50,000 note, the country’s highest denomination.
She shared the fact while reacting to a post praising the note’s beauty, proudly writing, “My Daddy and his amazing team did that.”
The note, first released in May 2010, is one of Uganda’s most admired.
Beyond its value, it carries powerful artistry, featuring the silverback gorilla, the Independence Monument, Karimojong cultural symbols, and the map of Uganda marked with the Equator line.
The design has also earned global praise.
The International Bank Note Society named it the most beautiful banknote in Africa and ranked it among the top five in the world.
For Ugandans, Cynthia’s revelation gives a personal touch to the story of the note, linking it to one of the nation’s most influential military and political figures.
