Daddy Freeze Says Wizkid Has Not Earned Fela Kuti Comparison Yet
Daddy Freeze has reacted to the comparisons between Wizkid and Fela Anikulapo Kuti, and he is not buying it.
The Nigerian media personality, real name Ifedayo Olarinde, said Wizkid should not be placed in the same breath as the late Afrobeat pioneer.
In his view, Fela’s legacy was bigger than music.
He said Fela was a strong philanthropist and activist who fought for civil rights and stood up to the government.
That, he explained, is part of what made Fela who he was.

Daddy Freeze argued that before Wizkid can be compared to Fela, he must show that same kind of courage and public stand.
Until Wizkid is ready to stand up and stone the government, he should not compare himself to Fela. Did you know that Fela was released from prison just to prevent him from dying there? They released him so he could go and die at home because they knew his death would spark an uproar if he died in prison.
He added that Fela’s music and activism were inseparable, which is why he believes the comparison does not hold up.
His activism and music went hand-in-glove. You cannot separate the two.
