Davido Explains How His Father Still Gives Him Money
Nigerian music star Davido may be living the flashy life, but he is never shy to talk about the real plug behind the scenes, his father.
In a recent interview, the ‘Aye’ singer opened up about how his rich dad still supports him financially, despite his own success in the music industry.
“If I told you my dad does not support me financially, I would be lying. I am still his baby. Of course, my dad gives me a cheque,” he revealed.
And he is not talking small money. After his sold-out O2 Arena show, Davido says his father called to congratulate him and later wired him a cool $300,000.
But Davido is not just spending on luxury.
He explained that he reinvests most of his music earnings into things like tours and music videos to keep the hustle going strong.
The superstar also shared that he did not always know how wealthy his family was.
He only discovered they were rich when he was thirteen.
“My dad is a humble man. He used to drive a Honda even with millions in his account,” he said.
The picture became clearer when they moved from a small bungalow to a lavish home, and he joined a top school.
Still, Davido did not want to follow the path his dad laid out.
He was sent abroad for studies, but he chose music instead, a decision that shocked his father at first.
Today, Davido is one of Africa’s biggest music stars and has clearly made his father proud, even if he is still getting cheques from him.
