Davido Opens Up About Nearly Dropping “With You” from 5IVE

Nigerian star Davido has revealed that his hit song “With You” with Omah Lay nearly missed his 5IVE album.

The track was not a top pick during early listening sessions and almost got cut.

Man, it is so crazy because that song almost did not make the album. ‘With You’ was not in anybody’s top five. And now look at it go. Every time I was performing it, my heart would just start beating like, what if I did not put this song.

After release, everything shifted. The song gained strong momentum, climbed charts, and crossed 100 million streams on Spotify.

It also secured Davido a nomination at the 2026 Grammy Awards in the Best African Music Performance category.

However, “With You” lost in the category to Tyla, who won with her track “Push 2 Start.”

Now his focus shifts to touring and fresh music.

Davido is also set to perform at Coachella 2026 in California, marking another big step on the global stage.
