Daxx Vibes Speaks Out After Hotel Africana Cancels Concert Plans
By Nalunga Edreen Teopista
The Ugandan music scene has been abuzz with rumours and speculation surrounding the much-anticipated first Daxx Vibes concert, originally slated for August 29 at Hotel Africana.
In the past two weeks, the story has taken several unexpected turns, involving change of venue negotiations, and the ever-present challenge of meeting fans’ expectations.
Two weeks ago, Daxx Vibes received a call from Ali, one of the sons of the late Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige.
This conversation was not the first; last year, Daxx had also engaged with Ali concerning his first live in concert.
In his commitment to transparency, Daxx visited every relevant office including Finance and management where he spoke directly with the chairman.
Banking on a gentleman agreement Daxx begun his nine-month journey of intense advertising and shared copies of posters with management of Hotel Africana.
Unfortunately, he was told his crowd does not qualify to be at Hotel Africana.
Apparently it was a consensus from the entire family that led to this ultimate decision.
“They should have raised that earlier,” Viana Indi exclaimed during the interview.
Daxx and his team held two meetings with Hotel Africana management to iron out details for the concert.
However, all was in vain since a final decision had been made by the entire family of the late Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige.
“Whenever you shift dates, it automatically affects your turn up,” Douglas Lwanga said during the interview.
He said this from his experience of Purple Party arrangements right before the COVID-19 lockdown.
Veteran musician Mesach Semakula has been a pillar of support throughout this process.
He went above and beyond, even asking if there were any requirements needed of them in order for the show to happen he would ensure they are place.
A so-called “gentleman’s agreement” between Daxx and Hotel Africana management turned out to be a hiccup in the planning process.
Daxx fans voiced their preference: “Let us maintain the same date and get another venue.”
This groundswell of support has been a source of encouragement for Daxx to get back on his feet to search for a new venue.
Despite the setbacks, Daxx Vibes remains optimistic.
“I am looking for positivity,” he shared, emphasizing his commitment to delivering a memorable experience for his fans.
As August 29 approaches, all eyes are on Daxx and his team as they work tirelessly to secure a new venue and ensure the show goes on according to the original plan.
Throughout this chaos, Daxx Vibes has demonstrated professionalism, resilience, and deep respect towards the decision of Hotel Africana.
Whatever the outcome, one thing is certain: Daxx Vibes is determined to turn this test into a testimony.
