Director Fadhil Mahad Talks Inspiration for “Ki Uganda Kinyuma” Music Video
Director Fadhil Mahad, the creative mind behind the colourful visuals of Ki Uganda Kinyuma, has shared what inspired him to create the music video.
The song, a collaboration between Omega 256, Feffe Bussi, Mark D Urban, and Acidic Vokoz, celebrates the joy of being Ugandan and shows how fun life in the country can be.
Speaking to NBS After 5, Mahad explained his thought process behind the video, which complemented the audio perfectly.
The first time I heard the song, the first thing that came to mind was the question, “How is Uganda fun?” because Uganda is fun in different ways for different people. As a director, I saw it from my perspective and thought that most people spend money on boat cruises. When people get money, they go to the water to relax and enjoy themselves. So I thought if we created a concept of a boat cruise with people drinking wine and having a good time, it would work perfectly.
He admitted the idea of separate sets for each artiste came to him later in the process.
From there, we added performance sets. At first I only had the story of the boat with them vibing on it, and then after I gave ever ariste an individual performance set.
For Mahad, the video was all about showing the happiness, pride, and energy that Uganda offers.
And judging by the response from fans, his idea of mixing performance sets with a fun boat cruise was a success.
