Discipline Will Take You Far, Katikkiro Mayiga Tells Entertainers
The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has once again spoken out about violence in Uganda’s music industry, particularly regarding the involvement of gangs, locally known as Egaali, that accompany certain musicians.
Recently, violent clashes between singers Pallaso and Alien Skin attracted national attention, sparking a broader conversation about the growing influence of these gangs in the industry.
In light of these incidents, Katikkiro Mayiga revealed that he had talked to Pallaso, urging him to abandon violent conduct and focus solely on his music.
He also explained that by closely following both local and international entertainers, he has observed a clear pattern where those who engage in violence often fall from grace.
“Entertainers who are involved in violent acts fall, even the international ones. Tupac, with all the talent he had, was killed simply because he involved himself in fighting and violence,” he said.
In contrast, he pointed to successful artistes who have avoided violence, citing Jay Z as a prime example of how discipline can lead to long-term success.
Katikkiro Mayiga concluded by delivering a powerful message to musicians and entertainers, saying, “If one wants to benefit from their talent, the key is to be creative, not violent.”
