DJ Alisha Speaks Out on the Dark Side of Social Media
Social media has become a double edged sword.
While it gives artistes and fans a platform to connect, it has also turned into a playground for harsh criticism, bullying, and unnecessary hate.
For some, the damage goes beyond words, as it destroys confidence, kills creativity, and even ends promising careers.
Ugandan-based Rwandan DJ Alisha knows this reality all too well.
During a revealing sit down on the Ugandan Boy talk show, she opened up about the darker side of the online world and why people need to armour themselves with self belief.
At the end of the day, you have to understand that this is social media. The people on social media do not know you, so they have no regard for you.
She explained that negativity often comes from people dealing with their own issues.
And I always say there is no single person who is happy, content, fulfilled in their life that is going to be out here spreading all these hateful comments and really hateful opinions to anybody.
For her, the cruelty online is rarely personal.
That is why I always say, it is never about you most of the time. People are just projecting their own insecurities, confusion, pain onto you.
She closed with a powerful message of self-awareness and strength.
It is very important to always know who you are and never let anybody tell you who you are at the end of the day.
