DJ Maphorisa has revealed that the amapiano industry is now tougher and more competitive than ever.
Speaking during an interview on Metro FM, the producer said staying relevant in the fast-moving genre is a constant challenge.
He explained that fans today have shorter attention spans and often only connect with one song from an artiste, no matter how much music they release.
According to him, even dropping ten hit tracks at once does not guarantee the reaction an artist hopes for.
Maphorisa used his latest album Ngomoya as an example, saying he released 28 songs but fans only gravitated towards one.
This, he noted, has changed how artistes think about creating and marketing music.
The hitmaker believes the new reality forces musicians to be more strategic, focusing on singles that capture listeners quickly rather than relying on full projects to make an impact.
