Dokta Brain Credits Joshua Baraka for Lifting Uganda’s Music Pride
Ugandan singer-songwriter Dokta Brain has credited Joshua Baraka for lifting Uganda’s image in the region, at a time when comparisons with Eddy Kenzo continue to dominate online conversations.
The discussion around international impact has been gaining momentum, with fans weighing Kenzo’s long-standing global success against Baraka’s fast-growing reach.

While he did not directly take sides in the debate, Dokta Brain made it clear he sees Baraka’s influence as significant.
Speaking during an appearance on Rewind, he said Baraka has helped restore pride in Ugandan music across East Africa and beyond.
The people praising him are right, the reason being that Joshua has come and restored Uganda’s pride in East Africa and across the continent.
He reflected on how Ugandan music was once seen as lagging behind in the region, but believes that narrative is now shifting.
Back then, people used to say Kenya has Sauti Sol and Tanzania has Diamond Platnumz, Uganda is no longer trying. But right now, we are even doing better than Diamond Platnumz in terms of streams, be it Bien.

He also pushed back against criticism directed at Baraka, calling for more support as his profile grows.
Whatever Joshua is doing, he is doing it for Uganda. Do not try to bring him down.
His remarks come as the conversation around Ugandan artistes and their global reach continues to evolve, with Baraka’s rise adding a new layer to the discussion.
