Douglas Lwanga: Are Concerts Still About the Music?

In 2026, are concerts still about the music?

That is the question media personality Douglas Lwanga is asking.

In a post shared online, Lwanga pointed out that artistes spend three to four months preparing for a concert.

They rehearse, promote, invest money, and lose sleep making sure everything runs smoothly.

But when the show is over, the conversation often goes in a different direction.

Instead of discussing stage performance, vocals, or production, headlines focus on who wore what, whose makeup failed, who tripped, or what drama happened off stage.

He then questioned whether concerts still add value to artistes.

2026 reality: An artist spends three to four months working tirelessly to organize a concert. After all that effort, the headlines the next day focus on who wore what, whose makeup failed, who tripped on stage, and every bit of drama while barely anyone talks about the actual performance. So what’s the point of putting on concerts in 2026? Do concerts truly add value to the UG artist?

Douglas Lwanga’s comments come shortly after Geosteady’s Valentine’s Day concert, where much of the online talk centered on the outfit worn by his ex-lover, Prima Kardashi.

And for him, that shift in focus is the real concern.
