Ed Sheeran Plans to Drop an Album… After Dropping Dead
Ed Sheeran is planning his ultimate legacy with a posthumous album called Eject.
The “Shape of You” star revealed on The Zane Lowe Show that his wife Cherry Seaborn will select the best of his work for the collection after his passing.
“It is in my will,” Ed said. “Cherry gets to pick the ten best songs from everything I have written since I was eighteen. If I go tomorrow, it is all set.”
The idea is both touching and unusual. Unlike many posthumous albums that feel random, Ed wants Eject to be carefully curated.
“I want to make a plan because you never know,” he said. He is clearly thinking several albums ahead.
Some may find planning a musical afterlife unusual, but Ed believes fans will find it intriguing.
Whether holograms will be involved remains unclear.
For now Ed is still active. He recently released his eighth studio album “Play” and hinted at a time travel themed series of releases including Pause, Fast Forward, Rewind, and Stop.
He is also working with Filipino band Ben and Ben, performing in Manila and again at the Off Limits festival in Abu Dhabi.
Even while planning his posthumous legacy Ed Sheeran continues to perform for his fans.
