Eddy Kenzo Rejects Ban on Gravity Omutujju and Lil Pazo, Calls for Dialogue
The President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation and Senior Presidential Adviser on Creatives, Eddy Kenzo, has shared his thoughts on the controversy involving fellow musicians Gravity Omutujju and Lil Pazo.
The two artistes are facing criticism for vulgarity in their music, along with a proposed ban on their performances at events by the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC).
Speaking to Sanyuka TV, Kenzo clarified that no official bans had been imposed, describing the proposed resolutions as premature and poorly handled.
He emphasized the importance of addressing such issues thoughtfully, arguing that public embarrassment is not the solution.
According to him, the first step should have been a private discussion with the artistes to understand their challenges and perspectives.
He also suggested that issuing a formal warning before considering harsher actions would have been more appropriate.
While Kenzo made it clear that he does not condone vulgarity in creative works, he stressed the need for a collaborative approach in handling the matter.
He proposed that the artistes, along with their leaders in the music industry, should have been brought together to find amicable solutions to the matter.
“Fire does not cool fire,” he remarked, advocating for dialogue and mutual understanding to handle such situations constructively.
