Eddy Kenzo to Skip Grammy Night Despite Nomination

Ugandan music heavyweight Eddy Kenzo will not be attending the upcoming 68th Annual Grammy Awards, even though his name is on the nominees list.

The BET award winner secured a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for his collaboration with Iranian-Swedish artiste Mehran Matin on the song Hope & Love.

This marks Kenzo’s second Grammy nomination, coming after his 2023 nod in the Best Global Music Performance category for “Gimme Love.”

But while fans expected to see him on the red carpet, Kenzo says pressing matters at home will keep him away from music’s biggest night.

We thank God I was nominated for the Grammys, but I have things I am handling, so I will not be able to attend. I have things I am finishing here, on ground, that I really need as a person. But I pray that everything goes well for us, God willing.

Still, his no-show does not mean Uganda will lack presence at the event.

Kenzo told the press that his camp will still be on the ground.

I have management there. I am wide. I have management here, in the East and West, everywhere.

The 68th Grammy Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
