Flashy Outfits, Empty Art: A Pass Rips Into Fashion-Obsessed Artistes
A Pass, real name Alexander Bagonza, recently shared his thoughts on fashion and how artists present themselves in the music industry.
In an interview, the “Love Infection” sensation explained that he prefers to keep his style simple and authentic, which is why he often chooses to wear suits and avoids flashy, extravagant outfits.
A Pass aims to create a unique presence, comparing himself to James Bond; someone who looks effortlessly good without trying too hard.
Confident in his abilities, A Pass declared himself the best artiste in Uganda. He does not feel the need to rely on fashion to prove his greatness. In his view, his talent and music are enough to set him apart from others.
He also believes that many artistes overdo fashion, makeup, and style, using them to compensate for weaknesses in other areas.
A Pass avoids such theatrics, focusing instead on his art, which he feels is strong enough on its own.
Addressing the common trend of borrowing clothes for music videos, A Pass criticised the practice, pointing out that many artistes portray a lifestyle on screen that they cannot maintain in their everyday lives.
Authenticity is important to him, and he takes pride in never having to borrow clothes or create a false image. What fans see on screen is exactly who he is in real life, and A Pass believes this is how it should always be.
